Development Works - Opportunities for Women

Women in Kandahar lack true opportunity.

As part of a long-term effort to develop jobs for women, Development Works is supporting a government program that is training 120 local women in sewing and embroidery skills.

In time, it hopes to intensify the training to enable the launch of nascent garment and apparel industry in Kandahar province.

In rural Kandahar, it is working with a community to establish a training centre, that would teach potentially lucrative tailoring skills to women.

The agency is also starting a pilot project to provide poor rural women with training and material necessary to have a small poultry business.
