DevWorks is building up a tented clinic for doctors in the flooded areas in north-west Pakistan province of Khyber- Pakhtoonkhwa.

“Portable and light, a tented clinic is the fastest way we can help,” said Sher Alam of DevWorks, “with time, we’ll provide something more permanent.

Based in Karachi, the small workshop converts abandoned shipping containers into inexpensive homes, clinics, markets and offices.

It wasn’t the reaction I expected. We had come there, flush with enthusiasm, bringing grand ideas to develop the local economy and create jobs.

It will be wonderful, we promised. The villagers were not buying.
